     Marie Blanche Hélène Patricia Claudette CHENIER, was born on 17 March 1946 in Cyrville, ON, Canada,¹ and was baptized on 31 March 1946 in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Cyrville, ON, Canada. Godparents: Pierre Chénier & Hélène Deschenes.¹ She married Jacques VERMETTE, son of Elzéar VERMETTE and Isabelle DAIGLE, on 27 June 1970 in Cyrville, ON.² As of 27 June 1970, her married name was Claudette CHENIER.²

Laurence L. Chenier 1921 - 2014 LUDLOW

On January 12, 2014, Laurence L. Chenier passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on November 4, 1921, to the late Valida and John M. Chenier.
Larry loved catching frogs and playing in the hay while growing up on "the farm", and after a 1930 fire destroyed their home, the Chenier's rebuilt with the help of other French-Canadian families in Ludlow.
Some of the "best years" of his life were spent as a Ship's Cook, First Class in the United States Navy Reserve, where he served from October 1942 until March of 1946. Even after his Honorable Discharge, he remained close with his "Navy buddies", visiting one another all across the country they loved so dearly and had fought to protect.
Upon completion of his service, Larry returned home and produced, processed, and pedaled milk with his father and brother at Chenier's Dairy. Delivering milk was an occupation, but interacting with customers brought him joy. This continued with the start of Chenier's Gravel Bank, which Larry began with his father in 1955 after a flood made many of Ludlow's roads impassable. He continued to operate the business with his father, Jack, and brother, Dicky, and later his sons, Jimmy and Jay. "Work" brought him great satisfaction, using his hands to feed his family and his warmth and humor to turn customers into friends.
If he wasn't at the Pit, he could be found on a tractor on a hot summer day, baling hay with his children, grandchildren, Bud and Zack Ellison, and any friend that drove by and offered a hand in the midst of chaos in the Chenier compound. Jimmy and Jay continued to run the business when he reluctantly stopped working at 89 years of age, able to spend time at home with the support of his son, Larry, and daughters, Diane and Annie. He was a dedicated member of Saint Elizabeth's Parish, and a graduate of Saint John the Baptist School. He was also a member of the League of Sacred Heart for many years.
He leaves his beloved wife of 61 years, Lillian (Szarlan) Chenier; his children Lawrence F. (Karen); James (Celeste); Diane C. (Paul Yelinek); John B; and Ann E. (Richard Bourbeau); his eight grandchildren, James Chenier, Benjamin Chenier, Ashley Chenier, Jason Chenier, Johnathan Chenier, Lauren Yelinek, Kara Yelinek, and Paula Yelinek, his sister Adrienne Mayforth and a community of close friends that he considered family.
He was predeceased by his brothers Gerard and Richard Chenier, and sisters, Sister Helen Chenier, SSA and Jacqueline Niquette.
The care and compassion of his family and friends allowed him to spend his final days in the home he built with Lillian in 1962.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be Friday, January 17, 2014, at 9:45 AM from the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, followed by an 11 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial offered by the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth in St. John the Baptist Church, 181 Hubbard St., Ludlow. Msgr. Homer P. Gosselin will preside. Rites of Committal with Military Honors will follow in Island Pond Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, January 16, 2014, from 4-8 PM.

     Adrienne Therese CHENIER, was born on 4 October 1923 in Springfield, MA, USA.² She married Harry Edmund MAYFORTH, son of George Joseph MAYFORTH and Mary Frances CARLETON, on 6 December 1945 in Walla Walla, WA, USA.^3,4,5 She died on 16 April 2006 in Malborough, MA, USA, at the age of 82.²

     Harry Edmund MAYFORTH, was born on 25 March 1916 in MA, USA.¹ He married Adrienne Therese CHENIER, daughter of Mathieu Joseph (John Matthew) CHENIER and Valida Rose CHAMPAGNE, on 6 December 1945 in Walla Walla, WA, USA,^1,2,3 and was buried in May 1979 in Springfield, MA, USA.¹ He died on 21 May 1979 in Northampton, MA, USA, at the age of 63.¹

     Hélène Marie CHENIER, was born on 6 June 1925 in Springfield, MA, USA.^1,2 She died on 16 April 2006 at UMass Medical University Campus in Worcester, MA, USA, at the age of 80³ and was buried on 20 April 2006 at St. Mary's Cemetery in Marlborough, MA, USA.⁴

Sister Helene Chenier — A Sister of Saint Anne, known as Sr. Gérard Marie, died at the age of 80, at UMass Medical University Campus, Worcester, on Sunday, April 16, 2006. She was in her 55th year of religious life. She was the daughter of the late John and Valida (Champagne) Chenier of Ludlow. She completed her elementary education at St. John the Baptist School, Ludlow, and graduated from St. Anne Academy in Marlborough. Sister attended Anna Maria College. She obtained a B.A. in Spanish Literature from Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee and her MA in Spanish Literature from Assumption College in Worcester. Sister Chenier entered the Novitiate of the Sisters of Saint Anne, Lachine, Quebec in 1949 and pronounced her religious vows in 1951. Her teaching career began in St Thomas School, Montreal, and the next eleven years were spent in private schools of Montreal. For 22 years she taught in Port au Prince, Haiti, first as a teacher and then as principal at Christ the King Bilingual School. In the early 90s she became Director of Religious Education at St Mary of the Annunciation Parish in Cambridge. At her death Sister Chenier served as Treasurer of Saint Anne Convent, Secretary to the communitys Provincial Treasurer, and as an aide to the Provincial Secretary, Marlborough, MA. Sister also taught English as a Second Language (ESL) to immigrants in Framingham and in the Marlborough area up to the time of her death. The Red Cross presented her an Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2001 for her dedication to the immigrant community.

     Jacqueline C. (Jackie) CHENIER, was born on 6 December 1931 in Ludlow, MA, USA.¹ She married Roger NIQUETTE, son of Joseph Jean Maurice NIQUETTE and Gladys Naomi BAILEY, circa 1947.² She died on 18 June 2012 at the Mercy Medical Center in Ludlow, MA, at the age of 80.³

     Roger NIQUETTE, was born circa 1929 in Holyoke, MA, USA. He married Jacqueline C. (Jackie) CHENIER, daughter of Mathieu Joseph (John Matthew) CHENIER and Valida Rose CHAMPAGNE, circa 1947.¹ He died on 2 July 1989 in Ludlow, MA, USA.²
