This was a special marriage between Omer Chainé and Dame Leah Jane Mastine as the Right Reverend Louis Victor Thibaudier Vicar General gave them a special dispensation to marry, removing all impediments to their marriage. Omer Chainé was a catholic and Dame Leah Jane Mastine was a protestant.
Later on that same year, at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Trois-Rivière Dame Leah Jane Mastine was baptised on the 5th of Dec and was accepted into the Catholic faith.^3,4,56 She died on 10 February 1961 in St-Félix-de-Kingsey, QC, Canada, at the age of 86⁷ and was buried on 13 February 1961 at the St-Félix-de-Kingsey Cemetery in St-Félix-de-Kingsey, QC.⁷

RESEARCH NOTES:
Reasons for combining Flavie Chene’s & Cassilda Chene’s given names into one person:

1. Initial research discovered a birth record for Flavie Chene and this was recorded. Parents were Charles Chene & Mathilde Lefebvre.
2. Further research found a “sister”: Cassilda (various spellings to this given name) married to a Gabriel Lefebvre. Her parents were also Charles Chene & Mathilde Lefebvre.
3. No birth record for a Cassilda Chene/Chaine could ever be found, but one did exist for Flavie.
4 The 1861 Canada Census for Canada East, Ottawa, township of Portland Charles Chene and his wife Mathilde record a Casilde as a child, 6 years old, but there is no mention of a Flavie.
Searching all Buckingham parish records from 1854 to 1861 did not reveal any death record for a Flavie Chene. Neither can a marriage record for her be found later on.
It seems that Flavie Chene’s given name could very well have been changed to Cassilda.
So I have combined the given names Flavie and Cassilda as one given name to this child.

If records do exist for further events for Flavie Chene/Chaine I would certainly be most welcomed to receive them.
